Target audience

This qualification would be useful for those who have a thorough working knowledge of payroll, but would like to expand their knowledge using the Sage payroll program.


The above qualification can be studied on a distance learning basis and then assessed by sitting an exam, either at our registered centre or accessing an IAB registered centre.

Alternatively, the above qualification can be studied just for knowledge and enjoyment purposes and no assessments need to be undertaken.

Course summary

  • Set up a computerised payroll system.
  • Set up employee records and payroll data in a computerised payroll system.
  • Enter details of gross pay into the computerised payroll system.
  • Enter voluntary and statutory additions and deductions.
  • Process the payroll.
  • Produce reports to enable reconciliation of payments and deductions to external agencies and other statutory documents.
  • Be able to back up and/or restore payroll data.
